Artist Support Network (ASN) is a Melbourne-based support service delivered by professional artists and musicians with extensive experience in their craft.

Our story

We are a small, Melbourne-based provider focused on delivering meaningful, high-impact support through a team of established artists and experienced support workers. We intentionally limit our size so we can maintain strong oversight and build genuine relationships with our clients, support workers, care teams, and families.

We intentionally limit our size so we can maintain strong oversight and build genuine relationships with our clients, support workers, care teams, and families.

This approach allows us to:

  • Build genuine connection and engagement through shared creative interests and passions.

  • Work closely with clients’ teams to help implement clinically informed plans and support participants in achieving their goals. We provide timely feedback and insights to families and care teams, to help their teams remain responsive and effective.

  • Advocate for our clients when needed, as our support workers are often the regular point of contact and can quickly identify when a client’s needs are not being fully met.

  • Offer thoughtful ideas to enhance quality of life, as clients are supported by a consistent team member who knows them well and have good rapport.

  • Provide clear and consistent feedback to care teams, to facilitate effective wraparound care.

  • Tailor support to each individual, ensuring every client has at least two support workers who understand their needs and preferences to promote continuity of care.

Our director

Joe is a professional musician with nearly 20 years of experience in youth work and a background in disability support and youth services. Over the past 8 years he has led music workshops in youth justice settings, where he saw how creative activities and shared passions can significantly improve someone’s quality of life.

He first made his mark in music nearly 15 years ago, releasing his debut album with Defenders of Style in the UK, and has continued touring and creating music ever since.

Now based in Melbourne, Joe was drawn to the city’s graffiti and street art culture. He spends much of his time painting or collaborating on music with his label Pang Productions. These experiences inspired the creation of ASN — built on the idea that support work can go beyond daily assistance by creating opportunities for creativity, connection, and genuine community engagement.

YOUTH

ASN works with children, teenagers, and adults. We support young people to build confidence, explore their interests, and connect with their communities through creative activities such as music, art, and other projects tailored to their passions.

Our artists have delivered programs through local councils, schools, community organisations, remote First Nations communities and in youth justice settings. This experience has equipped our team to build trust, engage young people who may be disengaged, and create safe, supportive spaces for creative expression.

Through music, art, and creative collaboration, we aim to help young people develop confidence, practical skills, and positive connections with their communities.

the asn difference

  • Our support workers are established musicians and artists with extensive experience in their craft. This allows clients to engage in genuine creative pursuits alongside people who actively work in the industry. It also builds instant rapport and engagement.

  • We use each client’s interests and passions as a foundation for support — helping foster confidence, connection, and meaningful community engagement.

  • Clients are carefully paired with professional artists and experienced support workers who align with their interests, personality, and goals.

  • As a small team, we maintain strong communication with clients, families, and care teams. Our support workers build genuine connections with clients, which allows them to provide meaningful feedback and suggestions that can positively shape a client’s support and overall quality of life. We prioritise prompt communication and make ourselves readily available to families and care teams for updates, questions, or coordination when needed.
